BIG NEWS II: Baby on its way

The little exercise programme that Frank and I underwent earlier this year was successful. Amazing, one visit to the doctor and bingo, we finally manage. I am now in week 12 and the belly is starting to develop.

having a baby

When I first found out (22 August), I simply couldn't believe it. I was staring at my test and just sat there for about five minutes, mumbling 'oh, my god' to myself again and again (something I normally completely avoid to say). I basically did the test to avoid more disappointment, I was convinced that I wasn't pregnant once again. I had been feeling weird for the previous ten days or so but I actually expected a lot more medical tests to be necessary before I would be able to conceive - I just thought I'd be getting my period. It took me about a week to really understand that this was now fact. I would have liked to tell everybody immediately, but of course it was far too early and I was constantly worried that things could still go wrong. As you can see I feel a bit better about this now!

As happy as I am, I have to say that my pregnancy is a bit of a bumpy ride. My blood pressure seems to have dropped dramatically, I have little energy, and need to eat every three to four hours to keep feeling OK - but at least I don't feel sick. There are certain foods that I am keen on (beef out of all things) and others that I suddenly don't like too much any more (chicken meat). The most annoying effect I had was that at the beginning I was off to the loo every 40 minutes or so. At some point my GP told me to stay at home for five days to regain my energy, but that was only partly successful. Last week I was on holiday (driving through Ireland) and now I feel even more tired. All I want to do is sleep. That's also the reason why so little is happening on this site recently.
