SylkeWeb – Sylke’s mutterings to herself on an island not so far away

OK, ok…

All right, I have been slacking with my posts - but if you would get as little sleep as I do lately you would too. Yannick is teething big time. His top incisors(?) are just sitting there, annoying him. They should be out soon. At least that's what I am hoping for.

Other than that, I am not too impressed with the low number of people having done my Yannick photo quiz so far. But the results are already quite interesting. If you still would like to vote, here is the link again:

Oh go on, you really want to take five minutes to do this!!!

I will post the 'solution' as soon as our upcoming visitors have left, so sometime in the week before Christmas. In case you are curious, our visitors are my friend Ken for a few days starting tomorrow and then my sister for 11 days. So plenty of time to do the quiz!

Autumn is finally here

Autumn trees

October was warm. All of a sudden it's cold and the trees start losing their leaves. It was such a long and warm summer, that it feels strange having to wear coats and closed shoes again. At least Yannick can finally sport his fabulous strawberry hat that Irie made for him!

Wonderful world of teething

The last nights were trying. Yannick either only slept in very short intervals, like 30-60 minutes or he was totally awake with pain. Poor child. Then of course during the day he had to catch up on lost sleep and slept for two to three hours at midday - but of course I had to stay close for the first one or two hours to get him there. I am not even sure which teeth are getting to him, it could be the top middle ones or some of the other teeth moving around in the gums. In any case he is a bit cranky during the day as well now that my mum has left for home again and there's less attention. With the days getting shorter we are not really able to do much after the long midday sleep. This whole situation gives you a headache at best.

On top of that, Yannick has completely changed his daytime sleeping patterns. He used to be awake for two hours, then sleep for 30 to 90 minutes, depending on whether I'd be there with him or not. Now he can stay awake for three to four hours. Sometimes he even manages five hours. It's weird and tiring for mummy as fire hours of being awake mean a meltdown at bedtime.
