Feta cheese oven dish
This dish was inspired by a visit to a restaurant in Berlin. I got a dish very similar to this one with peppers and feta cheese, but something was still missing. So I tried variations at home until it tasted just right.
- Feeds: 3 - 4 people
- Preparation time: appr. 15 - 20 minutes
- Baking time: appr. 45 minutes
- Gas mark 3 / Temperature 175 - 200 C
Ingredients:
- 250g feta cheese
- 3 tomatoes
- 2 peppers (yellow and green)
- 2 spring onions
- 10 black olives
- thyme
For the sauce:
- 3 eggs
- 200ml créme fraîche
- 2 tablespoons flour
- paprika powder
- tobasco
- 1 fresh clove of garlic (crushed) or garlic powder
- salt
Preparation:
- Cut feta cheese, tomatoes, peppers and spring onions into thin slices. Layer them in a greased, flat oven dish.
- Spread the olives on top and sprinkle the thyme onto the vegetables.
- Mix the eggs with the créme fraîche and the flour. Add paprika powder, tobasco, garlic and salt to taste. As the feta cheese is usually quite salty don't use too much salt. But don't be too hesitant with the other spices.
- Pour the sauce onto the vegetables in the oven dish and place the dish in the preheated oven.
Serving tips:
Serve with white bread (French stick) or bread rolls (heated up in the oven) and butter.
